Reviews
Quaint and cozy restaurant with super friendly staff. Food portion is huge and delicious. To start, I got the fried pickles with Viking sauce. The pickle was extra crispy and hot, which I really appreciated. The Viking sauce was good but not spectacular. The Cobb Salad dish, though, extremely impressed me. On the menu, the Cobb salad comes with smoked chicken, but I also wanted to add the smoked tri tip. Waitress was able to get the chef to prepare that for me and this is what came out (see picture). You can really taste the smokey flavor in both the chicken and the tri tip. The bacon was also crispy (and I normally don't like bacon). It was packed with fresh veggies and a lot of meat. I couldn't finish in one sitting. The bread was also to die for. I don't know how they did it (maybe a lot of butter), but it was super toasty on one side, and soft and warm on the other. There was also a perfect amount of garlic flavor on the toast. I am not sure what bread they used, but it was yellow -- maybe buttermilk or potato bread? Nevertheless, it was delicious! I'd come back for their smoked meats and the bread again.
We came here for dinner after a long day in Kings Canyon. We ordered a half size of Viking fries, a tri tip sandwich, a ribs plate, and a combo plate. All plates were delicious, but the Viking fries were INCREDIBLE. Highly recommend.
Looking for good BBQ, a place to sit down and eat close you Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs? Well we stopped in to Twin Valleys Smokey Mountain BBQ in Dunlap, CA. This is a stop the whole family will enjoy. One thing that impressed us all, was the fried pickles. You got to try them.
This is a gem buried in Dunlap I was educated in the south and you can tell this is East Tennessee hospitality. The cooking is great and the host just the right amount of down home hospitality. We had ribs and pulled pork. They were lean and tender. They have a wide variety of sides. We had baked potato, collards, potato salad, green beans, and cole slaw (we had a party and shared). All perfectly cooked. My companions is "gluten free" and they understood. Veggies were perfectly done, if you believe in perfect collard greens. Hush puppies were included, and were excellent, even if you are not from the south You could talk as much or as little as you wanted to the host. We talked a lot, and he is interesting. But we leave it as an exercise for you to discover that.
Stayed at an Airbnb nearby and they recommended it. I would have to agree with them. Food was great and staff was super friendly.
